I have lived with cats for most of my life ever since my father brought home a pregnant stray cat from Queensland University where he was lecturing in the 60's. At one stage we had about 26 cats and kittens living with us and I would cry for each one as we eventually found homes for them.
Pictured above is my latest soul mate Cecil, named after the Lion from a Zimbabwean National Park who was so brutally murdered by Walter Palmer, a dentist from the U.S. Cecil has loads of personality and he was feral when I first met him. It took a while to tame him but with lots of TLC and food he eventually decided that his home was with me. He sleeps on my bed most nights and inside it when the nights get colder.
Pets are so good for our health and are an endless source of laughter and entertainment. It is a shame that we don't treat all animal life with the same dignity and respect (even if we do eat some of them) as I was horrified that a rhinoceros was recently murdered at a wildlife part near Paris for it's horn.
